FUNERAL AND MASS SERVICE FOR ACTIVE CAPT GREG SCHMIDT - posted 4/29/2025

With regret, the Department announces the death of Captain Greg Schmidt, Engine 8 (appointed February 2, 2003) which occurred on April 25, 2025.

The heartfelt sympathy of the entire Department is extended to the family, relatives, and friends of the deceased in the midst of the great loss that they and the Department have sustained. 

Funeral Service will take place from O.B. Davis Funeral Home, 1001 Route 25A, Miller Place, NY, on Friday May 2, 2025, followed by a Funeral Mass at 1100 hours at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 429 Route 25A, Setauket, NY.

Viewing Hours:

Thursday May 1, 2025:

1400 to 1600 hours and 1900 to 2100 hours

Members of the Department who are off-duty are requested to attend the funeral in dress uniform as a mark of respect to the deceased.
