THE NEW YORK CITY BRAVEST SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Captain John Henry “Hans” Meister died on October 13th, 1943, five days
after fighting a five alarm electrical fire in long Island City. Captain Meister suffered severe chest pains after this fire and today his death would most likely be considered line of duty. The Captain “Hans” Meister Scholarship is part of the Uniformed Fire Officers Bravest Fund which was established in 1999 with generous donations from the Meister family.
