THE NEW YORK CITY BRAVEST SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Captain John Henry “Hans” Meister died on October 13th, 1943, five days after fighting a five alarm electrical fire in long Island City. Captain Meister suffered severe chest pains after this fire and today his death would most likely be considered line of duty. In 1999, in honor of Captain Meister, several scholarships were awarded to the children of deceased firefighters and fire officers. The Captain “Hans” Meister Scholarship is part of the Uniformed Fire Officers Bravest Fund which was established last year with generous donations from the Meister family. If you would like to contribute money to provide future scholarships for the children of our deceased members
Donations can be made by check or credit card.

The Thomas R. Elsasser Fund

The Thomas R. Elsasser Fund was established in 1992 to support the families of
NYC Firefighters who died Non-Line of Duty as active members of the FDNY.

With your help we can support the many families that do not have access to the
more lucrative financial benefit packages that the families of members who have
made the Supreme Sacrifice do.

The funds are used to help with medical costs, housing and repairs and school
tuitions to name a few.

Donations can be made by clicking on this link.
